Mistakes
Our Greatest Teachers

Miners develop a resiliency, an ability to survive, and grow. They know through experience, that they could survive, even if they made mistakes.

Describe a situation in which you felt resilient; in which you were able to keep courageously coming back. What happened? What was the result?

Crisis
Seed of Possibility

Crisis is defined as an unstable situation of extreme difficulty or danger. It is something that can force us to change direction. It is also a gift that brings out the best in us, expands our creativity and gives us an increased understanding of our self.

Miners see that crises are a gift. Some of the gifts the Miners described included: expanded creativity, new perceptions and belief systems, increased understanding of self and others, an increased trust in the goodness of the universe, increased awareness of their own strength, and faith that things work out for the best. Most Miners believed that they were at their best in the midst of a crisis. They drew, to their full capacity, upon resources they otherwise did not use. They stretched themselves. They grew in response to crisis

.Please describe a crisis you have had and how you received a gift from it. What did you learn from the experience.? Describe how you have grown because of this experience.

Relationships
Classrooms for the Soul

A relationship is the way in which people and things are connected to each other. It is a state involving mutual dealings that link or connect the parties involved.

All Miners believe that relationships have been their greatest teachers. One said, “You can’t hide in relationships-things come up. We often find ourselves behaving in ways that surprise us.” Relationships are mirrors. They reflect back parts of ourselves about which we are not consciously aware. We may often wear a mask to protect our self. Our reactions to others can give us unexpected information about how we wee ourselves and the world underneath this mask. Relationships provide a catalyst for looking inside our own skin and behind our mask

.List three or four relationships you have had with people who have been important to you in your life. What have these relationships taught you about yourself? Describe a situation in which you saw a part of yourself that you were not consciously aware.
